In the genre of “Cinema Paradiso” and “Il Postino”, and based on a true story set in Taos, New Mexico's drought-ridden summer of 1954, “XAVIER’S FOLLY” is about daring to dream. Xavier, the perfectionist plumber, fits pipe and dreams of a time in his youth when watching a young ballerina practice brought him joy and hope. When Xavier decides to risk everything he has to bring the world's foremost prima ballerina to dance for the Taoseños, a community caught in cynicism and lethargy is given a chance to find life's muse through one man's vision of joy.
Writer Max Evans, long time collaborator with Sam Peckinpah and one of New Mexico's most distinctive voices (“The Hi-Lo Country”, “The Rounders”), has transformed Folly into folklore and written a story to encourage us all to embrace the Great Mysteries.
